There is something you should know

The evn collection at the Belvedere
11.5.-6.8.2000

In the summer of 2000, the evn sammlung was presented to a wider public for the first time with a selection of works at the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere.  The phrase "There is something you should know", taken from Douglas Gordon's "Instructions Series", was chosen as the defining motto for this occasion: as an invitation to visit the exhibition or the collection, but also as an expression of a self-confident attitude.

In the co-production, the EVN Art Council and Thomas Trummer of the Austrian Belvedere Gallery found a common denominator: the embedding of Austrian contemporary art in an international environment. The baroque premises of the Upper Belvedere became an interesting mixture of history and the most current artistic positions through subtle interventions by the Welsh artist Cerith Wyn Evans, who worked as co-curator.
